Apricot Block Shiraz
Wine
Greenock Creek Apricot Block Shiraz is handpicked from a vineyard at Marananga in the Barossa Valley, once an old apricot orchard but planted to vines in 1995.
The grapes are destemmed without crushing. They ferment in shallow open fermenters with several pump overs. The chilled juice is then basket pressed, keeping the free run and pressings separate.
The wine is racked to mostly seasoned American oak hogsheads for malolactic fermentation and maturation. After 27 months it is blended and bottled without fining or filtration.
Cherry red, Greenock Creek Apricot Block Shiraz has velvety dark fruit flavours, silky tannins and a backdrop of charry oak. Cellaring potential is eight years.
